ABOUT US

1Pier by One Community is a business collective of 9 participating entrepreneurs, combining their treasures and talent as retailers at the St. Petersburg Pier.

  • 1Pier is part of a larger equity initiative – the 10-Year One Community Plan which is designed to “grow the paychecks, bank accounts and balance sheets of African Americans in St. Pete.”
  • 1Pier was created by the same team that fielded the successful 2020 Plan to reduce poverty by 30% in South St. Pete by 2020 (with the City of St. Petersburg as an anchor partner).
  • 1Pier is a social enterprise concept that invests in retailers’ growth by covering 70% of costs for 2 years. Each retailer contributes a coop fee, inventory, marketing support and 5+ hours of volunteerism monthly to staff the stall.
  • 1Pier is financially supported by Foundation for a Healthy St. Pete, City of St. Pete and community donations. City Urban Affairs Director Nikki Gaskin-Capehart serves as the City liaison to coordinate support for 1Pier.

1PIER PARTICIPATING RETAILERS

Nine entrepreneurs are participating in the pilot phase of 1Pier, which launched in early July 2020. We expect this number to ebb and flow as participating retailers gauge whether the market is fruitful for their enterprises. The original nine entrepreneurs remain on board as of October 2020, selling diverse hand-made and uniquely sourced products.
